Clack WS1 vs. WS1.25 Parts Identification Guide

Clack WS1 and WS1.25 controls share a family resemblance and some components, but the service manual assigns different main pistons, spacer stacks, distributor openings, and valve bodies. Identify the body and regeneration direction before ordering.
WS1 and WS1.25 are different valve sizes
The Clack manual identifies the WS1 as the 1-inch family and the WS1.25 as the 1.25-inch family. WS1.25 bodies may also use either a 1.32-inch or 32 mm distributor opening. Record that physical configuration instead of selecting by controller appearance.
Downflow and upflow use different pistons
For WS1, the manual lists V3011 for the downflow piston and V3011-01 for the upflow piston. It describes the downflow piston as solid amber and the upflow piston as black and amber. WS1.25 uses different main-piston numbers. The manual explicitly warns against converting a valve body between downflow and upflow in the field.
Spacer-stack distinction
The WS1 table lists spacer-stack assembly V3005-02. The WS1.25 table lists a different stack, V3430-01. Similar appearance is not enough to establish fitment. Match both the valve family and the exact OEM number.
Regenerant piston and injector position
The service tables list V3174 as the regenerant piston for applicable WS1 and WS1.25 softener configurations. Backwash-only filters do not use it. Injector location also changes with flow direction: downflow and upflow bodies place the injector and plug in different ports. Injector color/size depends on the application.
